OptiClear™ Stability Improver
Advanced Stability Improver for Mission-Critical Fuel Storage
OptiClear™ is a fuel stability additive and antioxidant formulated to extend the storage life of diesel, kerosene and FAME biodiesel blends used in long-term fuel reserves.
At low treat rates, it slows oxidation, reduces gum and sediment formation, and prevents fuel darkening, acidity build-up and particulate generation during extended storage periods.
OptiClear™ is effective across a wide temperature range and maintains performance in fuels with variable water content - including FAME biodiesel stability applications where oxidative degradation is accelerated.
The result is fuel that meets specification when required, reducing filter blockage, injector fouling and the operational costs associated with degraded stored fuel.

OptiClear™ Stability Improver
Advanced antioxidant chemistry for mission-critical fuel storage.
Technical specifications
OptiClear™ contains a proprietary blend of advanced antioxidants specifically formulated to inhibit fuel degradation. Its active chemistry neutralises oxidative compounds, preventing gum and sediment formation, fuel darkening, and acidity build-up that can compromise fuel quality during extended storage periods.
The recommended dosage rate for OptiClear™ is 350 ppm (parts per million), applied on a 3-monthly basis. This optimal concentration is specifically designed to deliver consistent and robust protection across varying storage temperatures and environmental conditions, ensuring paramount fuel stability without detrimentally affecting engine performance or emissions compliance.
OptiClear™ is available in multiple secure container sizes, ranging from small laboratory samples for testing to bulk industrial supplies. Our packaging options are designed to accommodate diverse operational requirements, including those for data centre backup systems and critical emergency power applications. All containers are engineered to maintain optimal product integrity and extended shelf stability.
OptiClear™ 350 presents as a yellow, clear liquid with a mild odour. Its visual clarity and consistent appearance are indicative of stringent formulation and quality control standards, which are meticulously maintained throughout the product's extended shelf life when stored under recommended conditions.
OptiClear™ possesses a high flash point of > 63°C. This critical property ensures compliance with international safety standards for fuel additives, thereby guaranteeing safe handling characteristics across all operational environments. For comprehensive technical information, including compliance and risk assessment data, please consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
For optimal mixing and uniform distribution, OptiClear™ should ideally be dosed into a flowing fuel stream at the storage tank inlet. While other application methods, such as bulk dosing, do not detrimentally affect performance, this additive can be applied effectively during initial fuel receipt or at any point throughout storage periods. It is crucial that tanks are at least 10% full prior to dosing.
To maintain optimal product potency and significantly extend its shelf life, OptiClear™ must be stored in cool, dry conditions, protected from direct sunlight and heat sources. Adherence to proper storage protocols, including temperature control and ensuring containers are sealed, is essential to prevent degradation and contamination.
OptiClear™ 350 maintains its stability and full efficacy for an extended period when stored under recommended conditions: cool, dry, and protected from direct sunlight and heat sources. Utilising sealed containers is paramount for preventing product degradation and contamination over time.

OptiClear™ is specifically engineered to protect fuel from degradation over extended periods of time, thereby extending fuel stability significantly. Its advanced antioxidant chemistry provides measurable protection against oxidation, gum and sediment formation, fuel darkening, acidity build-up, and particulate generation throughout long-term storage, ensuring sustained fuel quality and additive effectiveness.
OptiClear™ is highly effective across a wide range of industries where fuel needs to be stored for extended periods. These include marine, automotive, rail, agriculture, data centres, power generation, and home heating applications. It is tested and found effective in a variety of middle distillate hydrocarbon fuels, such as Diesel fuels, Biodiesel blends (up to B50), Kerosene, Gas Oils, HVO, GTL variants, and Marine Gas Oil. Please note that OptiClear™ is not approved for aviation fuels.
The recommended dosage rate for OptiClear™ is 350 ppm (parts per million), which should be applied on a 3-monthly basis. For comprehensive fuel system protection, OptiClear™ is designed for synergistic use in conjunction with FuelClear™ M15 Fuel Biocide, dosed at 150 ppm, resulting in a combined optimal dose rate of 500 ppm.
Yes, OptiClear™ is specifically formulated to prevent fuel degradation. It works by interrupting the natural degradation pathways of diesel, gas oil, and other middle distillates. Its advanced antioxidant chemistry neutralises harmful oxidative compounds, thereby preventing gum and sediment formation, fuel darkening, acidity build-up, and particulate generation, all of which compromise fuel quality, operational reliability, and can lead to costly filter blockages or injector fouling.
OptiClear™ conforms to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), Annex II, as amended by Commission Regulation (EU) 2020/878 for the United Kingdom (UK). This indicates compliance with stringent international chemical safety standards. While the product meets international safety standards for fuel additives and is suitable for worldwide applications, users must always apply OptiClear™ in accordance with local regulatory requirements and OEM guidelines specific to their region and equipment.
OptiClear™ has a high flash point, greater than 63°C. This high flash point ensures compliance with international safety standards for fuel additives, contributing to safe handling characteristics across all operational environments.
No, OptiClear™ is not surface active and therefore will not inhibit water separation from fuel.
For optimal mixing and uniform distribution, OptiClear™ 350 should ideally be dosed into a flowing fuel stream at the storage tank inlet. However, other application methods such as bulk dosing will not affect performance. Tanks must be at least 10% full before dosing, and it is recommended not to dispense into empty fuel tanks.
Yes, where possible, water and sludge should be removed from fuel tanks before dosing OptiClear™. If this is not feasible, filters should be checked more frequently for a short period due to potential microbial slimes being killed off and dislodged.
Before using this product, users should consult the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for comprehensive details on product hazards, recommended handling precautions, and specific product storage guidelines.
