A fuel biocide is a chemical additive that is used to kill or prevent the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and algae in fuel systems.
These microorganisms can contaminate fuel, causing clogs and corrosion in fuel lines, filters, and tanks, and reducing the efficiency and lifespan of the fuel system. Fuel biocides are typically used in diesel fuel, where the presence of water can create an environment conducive to the growth of microorganisms.
They work by disrupting the cell membranes of microorganisms or inhibiting their metabolic processes, leading to their death.It is important to note that fuel biocides should always be used according to the manufacturer's instructions.

FuelClear™ M15 Fuel Biocide is a high-performance antimicrobial agent (microbicide) from Fuelcare, developed specially to combat the problems of microbial contamination and spoilage in hydrocarbon fuels. FuelClear™ M15 is effective at low use levels, against microbial species commonly encountered in fuel systems, including bacteria, yeast, and mold. FuelClear™ M15 is designed to cause inhibition of microbial growth upon contact, and quickly result in cell death.
FuelClear™ M15 is effective in systems containing both fuel and water. Unlike other fuel treatment biocides, the active ingredients in FuelClear M15 are not deactivated by water. Both active ingredient (a.i.) and tradename (FuelClear™ M15) have been approved under the E.U. Biocides Products Regulations (B.P.R.). The product is approved by NATO, United Kingdom & Danish Militaries in non-aviation fuels. The NATO stock code (NSN) is 6840-99-339-6004.
The effectiveness of Kathon™ has been proven over a number of years and it has extensive approvals endorsing its use in a wide range of fuel types. Kathon™ combines exceptional activity with broad spectrum performance. Consequently it is effective at very low use levels against all commonly occurring fuel contaminants (bacteria, fungi and yeast).
Furthermore, the active ingredients of Kathon™ are non-persistent in the environment, giving the product good environmental acceptability.
FuelClear™ M68 cures and prevents bacterial and fungal contamination “The Diesel Bug” in small volume applications. M68 uses a powerful active ingredient called CMIT/MIT that rapidly neutralises harmful microbial growth. In contrast to FuelClear™ M15, FuelClear™ M68 is designed for smaller volumes of fuel where a 250ml bottle is sufficient such as small yachts, home heating applications or power generation.
